Call Me Brewmaster specialKevin

So on Saturday Tristan and I brewed my first batch of beer. I brewed an Extra Pale Ale also called an American Pale Ale. It is like a Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. I was supposed to get a 6.5 gallon glass carboy with my brew kit, but I was sent a 5 gallon glass carboy. I had to cut down the batch size to four gallons instead of five gallons. This might cause an increase in the abv of the brew but since we forgot to take the initial gravity we can't be sure if there is an actual increase. If this brew turns out good I plan to brew it again just so we can see how strong of an increase we get by cutting the batch down to four gallons. Pictures from my first adventure in brewing can be seen here.

Not "might", it "will" increase the abv, but a decent percent as well. And you can calculated a theoretical starting gravity that should be close enough to the real starting gravity for 4 gallons.

And don't pull me down with you, its your job to remember to take the starting gravity, ;). Making me look bad...

Your brewmaster mentor should have known better than to forget to take the initial gravity, Shame on Tristan!

Hey, once again don't blame me. Kevin had a chance to take the initial gravity the couple minutes after putting the airlock on when we realized he had forgotten. But he decided not to get it out of the closet and check.

I'm not a miracle worker, I can't cure lazy, haha.

Yes it wasn't Tristan's fault at all. I was the lazy one who didn't feel like taking it out of the closet to get the starting gravity. Hopefully it will ready by barcamp and if it is I will bring some for everybody to try.
